ROTARY CLUB AHMEDABAD METRO

The Rotary International (R I) is largest NGO with membership of 1.2 million spread over 200 countries across all continents and working round the cloak through 34,000 clubs world over.  The Rotary connects the world through Service above the Self, promotes ethics and value based society, fellowship for cultural integration and support the social priorities of various Govts in Health and Education segment.

The globally credible parterres of Rotary International are – WHO, UNICEF, UNESCO, Bill Gates and Melinda Gates Foundation besides several MNCs in India.

Rotary Club Ahmedabad Metro was established in 1996 and we have 150 enlightened professional members from different walks of life. Our members are comprised of Doctors, Engineers, Entrepreneurs, Lawyers, Chartered Accountants, Architects, Builders, Business leaders and Senior executives in Govt; Manufacturing and Soft Skilled Service sectors.  

Why people enrol for membership of Rotary International?

  1. Most members have joined Rotary to engage in some charitable and philanthropic or Social activities. Its law of nature that “Giving to needy  gives more pleasure and inner satisfaction than receiving. Rotary as largest charitable NGO provides best avenues to satisfy this human urge.
  2. Several professionals and entrepreneurs have enrolled membership for business networking and to increase business opportunities or social networking.
  3. Rotary Youth Exchange Program allow children of Rotarians to participate in youth exchange program within India s well as many other countries.

Service above the SelfRotary Works for Community Services globally in following major areas.

  1. Fighting Diseases (Both Preventing and Curative) and Disabilities.                 a. Our club operates Physiotherapy centre since last 6 years at highly subsidised rate and daily 40-50 patients take benefits of this facilities. So far about 50,000 patients have availed the benefit of our Physio Therapy centre.

 

b. Service to Thalassemia Children: Our club has associated in mega drive to generate Thalassemia Disease awareness to prevent the spread and carry regular campaign and seminars at various institutions, schools and colleges. We have help Red Cross Society - Plaid to establish Thalassemia Children Ward for free blood transfusion besides promote Blood Donations programs specially for Thalassemia Children.

 

c. Prosthetic Hands Project to rehabilitate Disabled persons. Our club has been carrying this work to provide prosthetic hands and to train and groom them to perform their daily cores and to drive vehicle with the help of the artificial limb. We have equipped about 400 disabled persons with prosthetic hands.

d. Eye Vision Project: Our club has been regularly conducts eye check up program of school children. Several students are detected with poor vision and require eye-glasses which is provided free of cost by our club. Some students are detected with Serious ophthalmic problems who need cataract or other surgical intervention which is arranged free of cost by our club. Our club has treated several hundred students to rectify their eye vision problems.

 

  1. Support Education under TEACH program: Spread literacy, promote higher education, Develop Happy School with equipment & hygienic facilities; provide teaching skill for school teachers. 
  1. Youth Development for under privileged Municipal School children:

For several years we conducted Elocution Competition for children in age group from 9 years to 16 years more than 150 AMC Schools with over whelming participation from children. More than 500 children took part spread over successive years. The children were well prepared on the subjects and developed huge self-confidence. 

 

  1.  E Learning: Under TEACH Program:  we have equipped several schools with E learning abilities and established in 6 schools with Computer Centres including in Timba Village school. Besides several poor students were provided with Computer for their studies as donated by our members and other donors.

 

  1. All India Rural Empowerment Program in Paldi Kankrej Village:

We scaled up child development program in the Village from 10 students and One Voluntary Teacher reaching to 700+ students and 100+ voluntary teachers. They are ambitious to convert Paldi Kankrej as Smart Village .

 

  1. HAPPY SCHOOL: We adopted Timba village school which was in dilapidated condition. We reconstructed and renovated whole school with latest boys and girls bathroom facilities. Also the school is equipped with Computer Centre with brand new 6 computers which supports E learning education to surrounding four village students.

 

  1. Saving Mother & children: To fight against mal-nutritional problems amongst young mothers and children and provide for supplemental nutritional diet and medicines. Physical and Mental health of young children will determine the future of strong nation.

 

  1. Provide Clean Water: The non-potable drinking water is the major cause of spread of various diseases. We spread awareness on hygiene and water filtration equipment in rural schools.

 

 

  1. Protect Environment: Waste and affluent management, Tree plantations, pollution control etc. We have planted thousands of trees during last few years. We have provided Garbage buckets for domestic waste and helped for compost fertiliser plant from the garbage collected in the society. Awareness program are conducted to abandon plastic bags and use recyclable bags.

 

  1.  Vocational Service and Women Empowerment:

a   Rehabilitation of Bootlegger women: Under the auspice of Economic and Community Development and Women Empowerment program we joined hands with “Wings to Fly” for the rehabilitation of women bootlegger women to create sustainable employment of more than 200 women with the initiative of Police Dept. in Ahmedabad city. They have abandoned illegal activities and self-reliant with dignified vocation to support their children as well.

     b.  We support skill development and vocational programs to generate self-employment to support the local economy. We have been recognising the community workers and professionals who have been engaged in providing humanitarian vocational services to deprived segment of society and working on selflessly by honouring them and motivating them to continue the noble services.
